Director of Coaches

Soccer Information Web Page

Welcome to the USYS Region 1 Directors of Coaches Web Page. The purpose of this site is to offer all coaches, advice, instruction, latest news, and any new coaching information that will help all players improve their game.

There have been many positive changes in the development of youth soccer players since the formation of United States Youth Soccer Association. The strength of the female players participating in the world game is unprecedented. The men's game is getting stronger and stronger each year. The understanding that small-sided games are the best way to develop players in this country has finally become the standard for coaching players.

Despite all of the positive forces that have taken hold in the youth game, there is still more to be done so the future of soccer in this country can grow and prosper for future generations. The State Director of Coaches are on the frontline and working very hard, in the trenches, to see that this becomes a reality. Parent Education, Topsoccer Coaching Certification, Technical training manuals, DVD Training Courses, and much more, is needed immediately for coaches.

A plan to bring all states on a path that gives every coach a common "road map" to teach players is another tool that will help develop all players. Manuals, translated into Spanish, is a major advancement for coaches in the community. These, and many more items, are what the State Technical Directors of Coaching are creating for all coaches throughout the United States. With their expertise, and the expertise of many more coaches throughout the United States, the USYS Coaching Committee, State Presidents, and many others, we will become a leading training institution for youth development throughout the world.
